ABOUT ISLAND AIR CHARTERS

Welcome to Island Air Charters!

Island Air Charters, Inc. is a certified U.S. Department of Transportation, Federal Aviation Administration, Air Carrier authorized to conduct flight operations under the provisions of 14 CFR Part 135 by certificate number ISCA092F.  Island Air Charters is also the holder of a License to Provide Charters Services issued by the Commonwealth of the Bahamas.

The Company currently operates both scheduled and "ad hoc" charter flights for passengers and cargo traveling to destinations in South Florida, the Bahamas, the islands of the Caribbean, Mexico and all countries in Central America.

Founded in 1986 by James Dean Birmingham, Island Air Charters (also known as Island Air) was run by both he and his wife Karen, until its purchase by Ms. Linda K. House, on March 30, 2007. Ms. House brought to the Company new management and an expansion plan that will not only benefit all those who currently travel with us on a regular basis, but those new travelers flying with us to destinations never before serviced by Island Air Charters.

Currently, Island Air Charters operates a fleet of three Britten-Norman Islander aircraft and one Piper Chieftain aircraft from its home base on the Ft. Lauderdale-Hollywood International Airport.  This combination of aircraft makes it possible for the company to transport both passengers and cargo to literally every island in the Bahamas and Caribbean that has a runway of some sort. Also, with all aircraft in the fleet having two engines, unlike the single-engine Cessna Caravan aircraft used by some competitors, all Island Air Charters aircraft can legally and safely fly to and from the Bahamas and across the open spans of the Gulf Stream without violating current federal aviation regulations.

To assist your travel needs, we have experienced staff who are very familiar with the requirements of international travel.  With the Department of Homeland Security and Bahamian Customs and Immigration changing their policies and procedures regularly, you can count on our staff to keep you informed.

Both passenger service counters and corporate offices are located in the Sheltair Fixed Base Operator (FBO) facility (formerly known as the Jet Center) on the west side of the Ft. Lauderdale-Hollywood International Airport, literally in the shadow of the airport control tower and with a physical address of 1050 Lee Wagener Boulevard,  adjacent to both the U.S. Customs and Border Protection GAC facility and FAA Flight Standards District Office.

We offer safe, reliable and affordable service to those destinations not served by the major airlines, and make a conscious effort to eliminate the hassles associated with international travel in these days of heightened security.

With literally thousands of people traveling each year to and from the Bahamas on Island Air Charters, we hope you'll consider us for your air travel needs on your next visit to South Florida or the Bahamas.

Thanks for visiting our website.
